JULY TASTE TEST – MRS CHUTNEY’S APACHI

APACHI = Apple & Chilli – cool name – hot product!

I love this tasting job!

So July’s treat is very fruity with a good hot chilli kick. Lots of apple pieces and juicy sultanas, a discernible twang of cloves and then a generous chilli boost.

We used it to accompany a Mexican meal and spread it on the inside of our tortilla wraps before adding the chicken filling, guacamole & salad. All very delicious!

This one reminds me of the fruity chunkiness of mincemeat but in a spicy, savoury form. I quite fancy trying it spread on a layer of puff pastry, sprinkled with a good helping of cheddar then rolled up cut into pinwheels and baked. I bet they’d be a great little appetizer to have with an ice cold vodka shot or Bloody Mary!

Here’smy most favourite Mrs. Chutney creation – THAT’S SHALLOT – one or two of these crunchy little madams are my treat when I get in from work – they are totally awesome – very very spicy, hot, zingy, eat-another-one-y. They get spicier each day. My mouth is watering just thinking about them… just look at all those naughty little chillis, coriander seeds and bay leaves… mmmmmm
