A Bath full of Lions!

We had a lovely day out in the city of Bath last weekend.  We pottered about, visited the art gallery, had lunch at Browns, walked in the park and did a bit of Lion spotting…

Here’s a quick summary of the event from the ‘Pride in our City’ website:  “A giant pride of 100 individually decorated, life-size lion sculptures has taken up residence in and around the World Heritage City of Bath this summer in a colourful, public art event to raise funds for local charities and bring a smile to the faces of residents and visitors alike. Three quarters of the pride has already been installed – for details of their locations please visit the News page.”

Here are a few pics of some of the lions we saw…

Medallion

The Lion, The Watch & The Wardrobe

Dandelion

King of the Rock n Roll Jungle (with Elvis impersonator!)

King of Pop (an uncanny likeness!)

Bejewelled glove on King of Pop’s paw!

Alan guarding my Mojito!

The website also gives details for people or businesses who might be interested in sponsoring or even decorating a lion. The pride is going to be around all Summer culminating in a ‘Goodbye’ event in October in front of the Royal Crescent.

Great fun for the kids to do a bit of Lion spotting if you’re at a loss for something to do in the Summer hols! I hope you enjoy the pics and happy hunting if you get a chance to visit.

Love those lions. Saratoga Springs, home of a very old horse racing track, has painted horses throughout the city. One of my favorites is covered with ice cream cones. It stands most appropriately in front of an ice cream store.

And Alan! I hadn’t thought to make a sock creature body, or rather, beverage guard. Now I’m going to have to get to work on one. Thanks for getting the creative juices flowing.

Love the sock people, having been trawling some blogs for inspiration as I am in the process of setting one up and want to get it right first time. I have also selected wordpress as they have been recommended. I notice that you have selected me as a favorite on folksy thanks it’s really encouraging to see people are out there and I’m not wondering alone in cyber space.
