Mrs Chutney’s Lemon & Mustard Seed

Look what we got to taste test last night!

In my day job I share an office with ‘Mrs Chutney’. Out of work I make creatures and she makes gorgeous stuff to perk your meals up!  I get the cushy job of being a taster – marvelous!

So last night we made a chicken korma and lentil dhal accompanied by naan bread and samosas.

The lemon & mustard seed chutney complimented it perfectly. A really good alternative to lime pickle, in fact I think I prefer this…

The taste combination is big  juicy sweet sultanas with  soft, slightly bitter chunks of lemon peel mixed with the softened expanded mustard seeds gently popping to give a burst of mustardy hotness. Totally delicious!

I want to try it with sausages next!

Some of my other favourites so far are:

Picallili
Red Onion & Sloe Gin Marmalade
Cranberry & Cherry Brandy
Spicy Cucumber & Apple Chutney
Pickled Onions (hot & very moreish!)

Mrs Chutney is in the process of setting up an on-line shop so everyone will be able to enjoy her recipes soon. Meanwhile you can keep track of what she’s doing by following her on Twitter http://twitter.com/@kaz522
