Knitted Sleepy Bear in a Bunny Suit

I spotted a picture on Pinterest last week of the cutest little knitted sleepy bear wearing a red knitted button up suit with big bunny ears.  I really couldn’t resist him, isn’t he lovely :)

The Folksy shop is called ‘Hand Knitted Bears’ and you can put an order in with Martha for any colour combination you like. She says to allow up to 7 days for your bear to be made but I had mine within 3 days of my order, which was super speedy. My little bear has moveable arms and legs so he can easily be posed in a sitting position.

Martha has lots of cute bears in different outfits to choose from so do go and have a look, they are amazing value too – after seeing the amount of work first hand, they’re definitely worth a higher price tag. Beautifully made, very good service and delivered wrapped in tissue paper tied up with a ribbon… HAND KNITTED BEARS

Knit Club – Folksy Friday

I had a really happy accident a couple of weeks ago. I was meeting up with a friend in the pub just up the road from my house, which I rarely go into, and sitting around a table were a group of women knitting, sewing, crafting, drinking & chatting!  I went over to investigate and found out that they meet up every 2 weeks, so I’m now a member and am looking forward to my 2nd Knit Club next week!

So my Folksy Friday this week is all things knitting…

Winning streak

After always whining about never winning anything, I’ve just had a really lucky streak!

IMGP3549Not one, but two original artworks from Fatema at Rara Avis, Shimmer on the Beach and Holiday Accessories.

Fatema creates wonderful art and stationery that is often inspired by fashion and cakes – not necessarily together!

sunshineI love this – it’s just like a sunshine which is exactly what I asked for! It’s from Zoe Sharp Crafts.

Zoe makes all kinds of lovely knitted brooches and lots of cute vintage retro fabric creatures – the yellow elephant is my favourite.

And then I received these inspired business card holders, hand made by Tia Lush (what a fabulous name!) from sample paint charts. Aren’t they great!  Tia is a graphic designer and has her own website called WhoAteMyCrayons where you can catch up with her latest innovations.

Thank you to Fatema, Zoe and Tia for my lovely gifts!

Beach Art

After ‘Stumbling Upon’ a website about Graffiti knitting and then sharing some brilliant websites and blogs in the Folksy forums, it reminded me of something we did on a holiday back in 2005 in Greece.

We spent the day on a beach making pebble pictures and towers… OK, not the same as knitting I know, but the idea of leaving something behind for others to discover feels similar to adorning public spaces and objects with pieces of knitting and crochet for people to just happen across and marvel at later.

Or grumble about, vandalise, whatever… but get a response nevertheless!

Here are some pics our pebble art (not the first one – they’re my feet!)…

For any of you heading off to a beach this summer it might be a fun alternative to building a sandcastle.

There’s even a World Beach project that you can post your pictures to via the V&A website. They’ve recently reached post No.500 – have a look here for what do…
